#134 – Benefit Realization

The expected benefits of a Scrum Team’s work are typically realized when the end users start using (i.e., adopt) the ‘done’ PBIs. Delivering work that is not adopted might mean that the team has delivered the wrong Feature, that the quality is subpar, or that the end users are simply too busy to absorb any more changes at the moment. Unadopted PBIs are a symptom of time wasted.

It makes sense to add to the Scrum Team’s Definition of Done that an Increment must be adopted before the PBIs included in it are really done–but only if the Developers can actually do something about the adoption (e.g., by reaching out to end users).
