#125 – Uncommitted PI Objectives

The effect of committing to and delivering PI Objectives is that teams, and the Agile Release Train, build up trust with Business Owners and other stakeholders. However, as most contexts are complicated or complex, teams need a way of communicating their intended goals in a PI without having committed to delivering them—enter the Uncommitted PI Objectives.

They are also a way of communicating to stakeholders that the team has some big risks or uncertainties when working on delivering a specific Feature. It’s all about enabling everyone to have an open and honest talk about confidence in deliveries. In an ideal world, we wouldn’t have the need for Uncommitted PI Objectives, but, then, there wouldn’t be a need for working agile, either.
