#129 – Escalation

The Cognitive Load on a team isn’t necessarily increased by empowering them to remove systemic impediments. Actually, it might even simplify the process, as they don’t have to consider taking the right communication paths and involving the right stakeholders in order to get it fixed.

For example, let’s say there’s a Stream-Aligned Scrum Team that has a recurring dependency to a Data Warehouse team because only they have the competencies to transform the data that has to be shown in an application. Instead of asking a Manager in both silos to talk to each other, both teams coordinate, themselves, not only the timing of the dependent work with the two POs, but also how the Scrum Team can build up the competency to do it themselves in the future—without involving others.
